When people reach out to enquire about classes at Unalome Yoga & Wellness, they often ask me questions like:
“What style of yoga do you teach?”
“Will I be able to keep up if I’m a beginner?”
“Do I need to be flexible?”
“How often should I practice?”
And while these are all important questions, I often find myself asking them a different one:
“How do you want to feel?”
Because in my experience, choosing a yoga studio is about much more than choosing a workout.
It’s about finding a space where you feel supported, comfortable, and inspired to return consistently.
The Right Studio Isn’t Always the Biggest One
When I created Unalome Yoga & Wellness in Vasant Kunj, I wasn’t trying to create the biggest studio.
I wanted to create a space that felt welcoming.
A space where someone attending their very first class would feel just as valued as someone who had been practicing for years.
A space where age didn’t matter.
Where flexibility didn’t matter.
Where language wasn’t a barrier.
Where nobody felt judged.
Over the years, many students have shared that this is what they appreciate most.
Not the size of the studio.
Not the number of classes.
But the feeling that they can simply show up as themselves.
And I think that’s something worth looking for when choosing any wellness space.
Look Beyond Physical Fitness
One of the biggest shifts I’ve seen in recent years is the growing understanding that wellness is about more than physical exercise.
Of course, building strength, flexibility, and mobility is important.
But what about stress?
What about sleep?
What about mental clarity?
What about emotional well-being?
The reality is that many of us are carrying far more mental and emotional fatigue than physical fatigue.
This is why I encourage people to choose a studio that supports the whole person, not just the body.
At Unalome, our classes are designed to work with movement, breath, awareness, relaxation, and nervous system regulation because true well-being involves all of these aspects.
Different Styles of Yoga Serve Different Purposes
Many people assume they need to find one style of yoga and stick to it.
Personally, I don’t believe that.
Our bodies and minds need different things at different times.
Some days we need energy.
Some days we need strength.
Some days we need stillness.
This is one of the reasons our weekly schedule follows a rhythm.
Mondays and Tuesdays focus on Vinyasa Flow to energize the body and release accumulated stress through movement.
Wednesdays and Thursdays focus on Hatha Detox practices that build strength, balance, and awareness while incorporating twists and backbends.
Fridays are dedicated to Yin Yoga, offering an opportunity to slow down, release tension, and restore both the body and mind.
Rather than following one style exclusively, we encourage students to experience all of them and notice what their body needs.
A Good Teacher Sees the Person, Not Just the Posture
This is something I feel strongly about.
Yoga is not about achieving the most advanced posture in the room.
It’s not about being the most flexible person.
It’s not about perfection.
A good yoga teacher understands that every student arrives with a different body, different experiences, different limitations, and different goals.
The role of the teacher is not to force the body into a shape.
The role of the teacher is to help the student develop awareness and build a healthy relationship with their body.
The most meaningful transformations I’ve witnessed haven’t been physical.
They’ve been the moments when students begin trusting themselves more, sleeping better, feeling calmer, and approaching life with greater confidence.
Consistency Matters More Than Intensity
People often ask me how many times a week they should practice yoga.
My answer is usually simple.
Choose a schedule that you can realistically sustain.
Wellness isn’t built through occasional bursts of motivation.
It’s built through consistent habits.
A few classes every week practiced with awareness will often create more lasting change than an intense routine that becomes impossible to maintain.
The goal isn’t perfection.
The goal is creating a relationship with your practice that supports you for years to come.
Finding the Right Fit
Whether you’re looking for yoga classes in Vasant Kunj, exploring yoga for the first time, or returning after a long break, my advice is simple:
Visit the space.
Meet the teachers.
Attend a class.
Notice how you feel afterwards.
Do you feel supported?
Do you feel welcome?
Do you feel safe?
Do you feel inspired to come back?
The answers to those questions will tell you far more than any brochure or website ever can.
A Gentle Invitation
At Unalome Yoga & Wellness, our intention has always been to create more than a studio.
We aim to create a community where people can move, breathe, learn, rest, and reconnect with themselves.
Through Vinyasa Yoga, Hatha Detox, Yin Yoga, Pranayama, Meditation, Pilates, Sound Healing, wellness workshops, and retreats, we support a holistic approach to well-being that honours both the body and the mind.
If you’re looking for yoga classes in Vasant Kunj and would like to experience our space, we’d love to welcome you.
Because the right yoga studio isn’t the one that changes who you are.
It’s the one that helps you feel more at home within yourself.
